It wasn't solely earthquakes, it was the tectonic (sp) plates sliding away from each other (and will eventually rejoin, I believe).

ehh I think most people in the world just live where they were born. Whoever the fuck moved there in their ancestry etc is to blame. I live in Oklahoma so we get plenty of tornadoes every year enough that I've just become desensitized to fearing imminent death on the occasional springtime night.
